Chocolate Adventures That Would Turn Charlie Brown With Envy

Experience Columbus introduces travelers to a sampler of unique chocolate experiences and getaways. Chocolate lovers can dream up their own real-life adventures as they tour factories, participate in events, view exhibitions and sample the best chocolate that local restaurants, factories and bakeries have to offer.  They can even enjoy a Chocolate Lover’s getaway, complete with a chocolate massage. Just a few of the Chocolate Experiences awaiting Columbus Visitors include:

Jeni’s Fresh Ice Creams: From Belgian Milk Chocolate to French Dark Cocoa Peppermint and many other wild and wonderful creations, customers come from around the globe to sample a scoop of the world’s freshest and most unique artisan ice cream.

Pure Imagination Chocolatier: More than 50 varieties of hand-dipped chocolates, artfully hand painted or dusted with 18-karat gold, are created by charismatic chocolatier Daniel Cooper, a real-life Columbus version of Charlie. Tours and tastings are offered in this colorful North Market location.

Anthony-Thomas Candy Company: Famous for churning out millions of pounds of mouth-watering chocolates every year, Columbus visitors feel like they’ve got the golden ticket during free factory tours, 9:30 am to 2:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Mozart’s Bakery and Café: A team of world-class European chefs have cooked up an authentic European café menu, with the most delectable chocolate croissants, éclairs, torts and Napoleons at its delightfully sinful chocolate center.

Schakolad: Yet another of the city’s incredible chocolate makers, owners Anna and Joe Stossel create hand-crafted chocolate in the old-world European tradition, all in a “sweet” architectural replica of the old Union Train Station.  Visitors are awed (and unable to resist a sample) as they watch gifted chocolatiers dip plump, fresh strawberry into the decadent river of chocolate.

The Amazing Chocolate Tree Exhibition, Franklin Park Conservatory: The Amazing Chocolate Tree takes root November 12, as Columbus visitors taste the cultural importance of chocolate from ancient history to modern day.  Special programs on chocolate tasting, cooking classes and visiting chocolate dignitaries make this a must-see – and must-taste – exhibition.

Brownie Points is a new store that just opened which sells a delectable assortment of goodies like chocolate covered apples, chocolate dipped cookies and many other tantalizing treats. They also offer tours.

The Lofts Hotel Chocolate Lovers Package: Features overnight luxury accommodations in a truly unusual boutique hotel, champagne & chocolate nightcap, chocolate couple’s massage, rose petal turndown, breakfast, souvenir DVD of the movie "Chocolat," and more.

Ohio’s Capital city is known for its unique style: an uncommon blend of neighborhoods, events, attractions and accommodations.  Free visitors guides, maps, on-line booking and complete information about visiting Columbus is available from Experience Columbus, formerly known as the Greater Columbus Convention & Visitors Bureau, by calling 1-866-EXP-COLS or visiting www.ExperienceColumbus.com .
