What’s New in Train Travel
The United Kingdom and Beyond

by Marilyn Loeser

If you’re planning a trip to England or any other destination in Europe, there are plenty of great train-travel options on the table this year.

Improved Britrail London Plus Pass

Although the BritRail London Plus Pass has always been good value for visitors touring southeast England by train, the addition of Airport Express train transfer vouchers and the inclusion of extended rail destinations like Bath, Bristol and Stratford-Upon-Avon make it even better.

During my many visits, I’ve had to figure out the airport-to-London route on my own and when I traveled to Bath and Stratford-upon-Avon, I had to be in possession of a four-day flexible BritRail Pass. {place swans flying photo here}

Now, a 2-day BritRail London Plus Pass includes two Airport Express Vouchers and a broader area around the city available for exploration.

The improved pass is ideal for London-based travelers who want to take day trips into the countryside and return to their London hotel in the evening. It is totally flexible for short or long stays, allowing you to use your rail travel days non-consecutively, if you wish.

The United Kingdom and beyond

ACP Rail International, which was established in 1994, is a world leader in the marketing and distribution of European Rail products — BritRail Passes Eurail products including

Global and National passes.

Now, ACP is offering Japan East Rail Passes and a wide range of air-inclusive and land only tour packages.

Going Green

We all know our choice of transportation greatly affects the environment.

Over the past 10 years, British train companies have reduced their average emission per passenger kilometer by approximately 22 percent and they’re committed to making sure they remain one of the greenest forms of transportation.

Beyond the positive effect using trains while visiting the UK is, using a BritRail Pass also is easiest way of seeing Britain.

The BritRail Pass can be used to board more than 18,000 daily train departures to more than 2,500 destinations in England, Scotland and Wales — all for one flat rate.
