Featuring Classic Rock and Reggae Superstars Styx and UB40
When most people think of the each and dining they might immediately go to images of hot dogs, hamburgers and s'mores. But in the fashionable resort destination of Newport Beach, sand-side dining has been perfected to nearly an art form over the past 20 years through the epicurean delights and fine spirits of the annual "Taste of Newport." This popular event celebrates its 20th anniversary as one of California's foremost food and wine events with the biggest "taste" ever offered, from Friday, September 19 through Sunday, September 21 at
Fashion Island.
Presented annually by the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce and Wells Fargo the event assembles a roster of the finest restaurants from throughout Newport Beach - featuring over 30 of Newport's finest eateries and 15 world-class wineries, plus special appearances this year by classic rock superstars Styx (Saturday, September 20) and Grammy Award nominated reggae band UB40 (Sunday, September 21).
American rock band Styx has been popular since the 1970s, with such hits as "Come Sail Away", "Babe", and "Lady." Styx is the first band to have four consecutive albums certified multi-platinum by the RIAA. Grammy Award nominated British reggae band UB40 is one of the most successful reggae acts of all time with chart-topping cover versions of classic songs such as "Red Red Wine," "Can't Help Falling in Love with You" and "I Got You Babe."
The "Taste of Newport" attracts over 60,000 visitors each year and it's little wonder why. The culinary scene in Newport Beach is exemplary, helping to cement California's renown as the "Land of Wine and Food." With enough menus and offerings to satisfy the most discerning palette, locals and visitors alike are sure to be sated by the wide variety of delicacies.

The 20th anniversary of "The Taste of Newport" will also be highlighted by the first-time participation of San Shi Go (a sushi restaurant) and Crystal Cove's beachfront eatery, The Beachcomber Café.
"Over the past two decades 'The Taste of Newport' has grown to become not only one of the most spectacular of our annual events here in the city but also a destination event for visitors from throughout California," said Gary Sherwin, President/CEO, Newport Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau.
